Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is a Danish actor. He was in the role of Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock), the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. In 2011, he won the Reumert Prize of Honour At 27 years old He attended the National Theatre School of Denmark from which he was graduated in the year 1995. In addition to his appearance in The Killing, [1] was also a part of Borgen III, a Danish drama series that was highly praised. He also had a major character in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock where he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards he played the President of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. It was aired in the UK in 2019 under the title Ride Upon the Storm
