Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the US and is a Greek-American author, syndicated writer of columns and businesswoman. She is the author of fifteen books. She is also the co-founder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece then moved to England at the age of 16. At Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in economics. The infamous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first presidency and she did it before the age of 21. The success of her conservative columnist was consolidated after she completed her studies. After the launch of The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online voice-portal that provided critiques of the state of the nation's politics. In part, her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna became famous in 2003 after she decided to contest independently during the California recall election in order to succeed the then governor Davis. Arianna was also part of a Detroit-based project that promoted efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes identified her the most powerful woman in the field of media in 2009. The newspaper was ranked as at 12th place on their listing. The Guardian also included her to the list of top 100 media for 2009. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her president of the media group, which also included the other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos, a management and journalism consultant. They were very close to her father. However, it was her relationship with her mother who has shaped her. In her early years she showed the qualities of a leader for which she's still known. At the age of 16, she moved to Britain for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. In the time of her studies she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first woman president, and also the sole foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. She was a journalist as well as a host on TV and a columnist after her graduation. She appeared alongside Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write the books she wrote with Bernard Levin's assistance.
