Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist, television personality as well as the proprietor of the independently liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Her move to Greece to England aged 16 where she obtained a MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. She was the first student non-UK to serve as the president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. When she graduated, she made her mark as columnist in the conservative syndicated media and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice platform that provided critical views on the political scenario. Her fame helped to attract several well-known contributors for posting their opinions on the news, politics and culture. Arianna became famous in 2003 as she stood in California's recall vote, to succeed Governor Davis. Additionally she was the leader of the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes listed her as one of the "most important female" in the media industry and ranked her 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. In 2011 AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made the president of that media group which included many existing AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. She was very close with her father, but it was her bond with her mother which formed her. She displayed leadership qualities from the beginning. As a 16-year-old the girl moved to the United Kingdom for her higher education. At Girton College Cambridge. She joined the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college, where she was the third female to be elected president. In 1972, she graduated with the degree of Master's in Economics. Her career as an anchor and reporter was born after graduation. She also appeared in the series Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books taking editorial help from Bernard Levin.
